ATLANTA IN SHORT

 

The most populous city in the U.S. state of Georgia and the seat of Fulton County, Atlanta, is the most important place of that region. It’s an industrial and economic center of Atlanta metropolitan area, so a big number of commuters come here on a daily basis. Except for them, tourists do a big part in the city’s economy. Atlanta is the seventh most visited city in the United States. They certainly have a lot to see and do here in the „Alpha City“! The city is located among the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and because of its geographical position it became an unavoidable spot for trading with goods. It has a big impact on the economy of the U.S. because it headquarters to many of important national companies as well as the media. On example, CNN is set here as well as the Cox Enterprises. It’s a home to many banks and trading centers. Due to how developed the city is, the „southern mentality“ is nearly completely gone.  Atlanta is very opened to visitors as well as immigrants. In this article, we’re going to tackle some of the most important buildings and landmarks that you have to visit before you leave Atlanta.

Parks

Atlanta is a home to 343 parks and garden covers. Atlantans mostly live withing six minutes of walk from some type of park.  The most iconic park in Atlanta is the Piedmont Park which is located in the Midtown.  It became a real attraction because of the amazing looks and event that are held there. Other notable parks are the Botanical Garden, Woodruff Park, Centennial Olympic Park.

Sports

Since Atlanta is proud to say that she has even three major sports team, it would only be fair include the sports category.  It’s a home city to the Atlanta Braves of Major League Baseball, the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association, and the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League. It has been a host for many different sporting events; Centennial Summer Olympics and Superbowl on example. Important spot for such events that you should visit is the Philips Arena.

Arts and theaters

It’s important to mention that Atlanta is one of the rare U.S. cities that has permanent companies headquartered here for performing arts. Those include opera- Atlanta Opera, ballet- Atlanta Ballet, theaters- The Alliance Theatre and orchestral music- Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. The city is known for often hosting touring Broadway acts.  High Museum of Art is one of the most visited and famous art museums in the world.

It’s hard for us to perfectly depict what Atlanta is and how it works. There are many landmarks to be visit and adventures to experience. Atlanta should be indeed called a city that never sleeps. No matter what time of the day, month, year- you will always have something to do in this city. Even if there is nothing around, Atlantans are always here to chat about something.
